Quentin Ratliff — “The Dancing Man”

1987 – August 21, 2026

He turned Riverdale and Germantown Road into a place of joy for the Olive Branch community.

Quentin Ratliff, 39, was the neighbor who waved, smiled, and danced along the shoulder of the road—bringing joy to drivers, children, and anyone who passed by. He gave that joy freely and asked for nothing in return.

Who He Was

A neighbor who gave joy away for free

Known to many as “The Dancing Man” or “Mr. Riverdale,” Quentin was a familiar, uplifting presence along Riverdale and Germantown Road. He danced, waved, saluted drivers, and made children smile from the back seat. In summer heat and January cold, he showed up to brighten a stranger’s day.

“He loved hard. He cared about his family. He loved his mama. He was truly, truly a genuine soul.”

— Bailey Hanna, family friend

“I love making people smile. I love dancing for the kids. It brings me joy to see people waving at me. I do it because I love it.”

— Quentin Ratliff, as reported by WREG
